The 2015 Christmas Tree.
The past few years we have made non-tree Christmas trees that don't take up so much space in our small living room. Being a great one for reusing odds and ends (and cheap) I decided to make a tree from a piece of pegboard Masonite. The original idea was to have the lights shine through the holes, or to have small bulbs inserted from the back. However, there was a big recall of Christmas lights, so we are still experimenting with the lighting.
I began by cutting a triangle of pegboard and putting a triangular frame behind it. Then the front and sides
were painted green. It was attached to a large dowel by two U-bolts.The dowel passes through
the frame and a piece of wood screwed to the top of a Christmas tree stand, making it pretty stable.

We put regular pegboard hooks on the back, so the smaller end is on the front. These can be used to hang ornaments and support lights.
You could paint them to match the tree, but I didn't. This was an experiment with the ornaments. We're still working on the actual decoration!

There is some wall decoration showing behind the tree. This is the latest version.
UPDATE: This year (2016) we didn't have enough Christmas spirit to have a tree. We had a Festivus Pole.
